Training of trainers on Implementation of the Constitution of Kenya

The Africa Youth Trust shall be conducting a training of trainers workshop on Implementation of the Constitution of Kenya from 13th -15th January 2011 in Nairobi at the Harlequin Suites Hotel, where we shall train 20 of our civic educators on how to build the capacity of youth in their respective constituencies to engage in the implementation process. The participants shall be youth from Nyanza, Western, Rift valley and Eastern provinces in which we conducted pre-referendum civic education. The purpose of the forum shall be to educate the youth on the transitional arrangements in the Constitution of Kenya to ensure that they understand how they can mobilize their fellow youth to engage in the implementation process. We shall further discuss Leadership and Integrity with a particular focus on the National Youth Council Elections to help the youth understand how they can participate in vetting the candidates for the positions in the National Youth Council. The training shall also focus on mechanisms for conflict mitigation, negotiation and reconciliation to equip the youth with skills for negotiation towards implementation of the Constitution of Kenya. At the end of the training the participants are expected to carry out constituency vikaos which are informal forums in which they shall sensitize the youth in their respective constituencies on the transition and implementation components of process of the birth of a new Kenya.
