Our Peace and Security Program works towards promoting peace and security. The programme components include:
AYT supports youth in Kenya to participate in processes that seek to promote sustainable peace. We incorporate a peace component in all our civic education programs to ensure that young people understand their role in promoting peace especially during volatile periods in the country. We also build young people’s capacity to engage with existing structures of governance and contribute to the development of plans and policies that seek to promote peace.
AYT participates in initiatives that seek to enhance urban safety. In 2012 we participated in the Safe and Friendly Cities for All (SAFCA) initiative which was implemented in 8 cities in the world, inclusive of Nairobi City. In Nairobi we have implemented the safer and friendly initiative in Mathare, Mukuru, Kibera and Eastleigh.
AYT to represent interests of the youth in the HLM2 meeting of the Global partnership towards Inclusive and Accelerated Implementation of the 2030 Agenda
AYT through its SheCAN school clubs held an inter-schools debate in Mukuru. The students debated on a wide range of themes related to the Safety and Security of women and girls in public spaces as well as School related Gender Based Violence (SRGBV)
